Doris Day - April 27, 2009 Message

People told me about a heartwarming story that ran on television over the weekend. It was about the miraculous rehabilitation of the dogs who were abused by Michael Vick.

First, I just want to thank God that justice has been served and he’s still confined.

The good and wonderful thing about this is that so many of the dogs were not only saved, but have wonderful homes with loving people who care about them as we do.  If only we could put a stop to dog fighting and all animal cruelty.

Special thank you with all my heart to the wonderful people who spent the last two years working with these amazing dogs and, literally, saving their lives.  God bless them all, and special kisses to the doggies.

With my love always,

DORIS DAY MY FRIEND - DOM DeLUISE

In response to media inquiries a quote, Doris Day reflected on her long-time friend Dom DeLuise.  They co-starred in the 1966 film, “The Glass Bottom Boat.”

I met Dom when we were filming “The Glass Bottom Boat,” and I loved him from the moment we met.  Not only did we have the greatest time working together, but I never laughed so hard in my life as when we were together.  He was such a sweet man.

I remember when he met his girlfriend, Carol.  He told me he wanted to get married, but he was afraid to.  I sat him down and said, “She’s a dreamboat.  You should marry that woman.”  And he did.  And we laughed about it every time we spoke.  They were an incredible couple.  My thoughts are with Carol and their sons.
